A path that smells of grapes, peaches and history. Canicattì, Delia, Sommatino ..... the plain of Italy. A flat route will take you on a pleasant ride. It comes down to the old sulphur mine of "Tallarita" and then climb up to Riesi; short but fascinating excursion to the noble fief of the Principi di Butera. You return to the path pointing towards the interior of Sicily barren and rich in agriculture ... Mazzarino, Barrafranca, Pietraperzia ... A continuous up and down in the middle of the countryside of the Sicilian hinterland. You return to the modern pointing toward Caltanissetta, dribbling San Cataldo and coming .... after a ride of about 121 km at home!

Una varietà d'uva di pregio prodotta nella zona di Agrigento, apprezzata e riconosciuta in varie parti del mondo è l'Uva Italia di Canicattì, ottenuta da un illustre genetista, Alberto Pirovano, incrociando due varietà di viti, Bicane e moscato d'Amburgo. L'uva ottenuta da questo incrocio è di bell'aspetto, di grossa pezzatura e molto resistente.

Stage 1:
A variety of fine grapes produced in the area of Agrigento, appreciated and recognized in various parts of the world is the Italian Grape Canicattì obtained by a distinguished geneticist, Alberto Pirovano, crossing two varieties, Bicane and muscat of Hamburg . The grapes obtained from this intersection is good-looking, of large size and very durable.

Il Feudo Principi di Butera è una tenuta che appartenne a due delle nobili e potenti famiglie siciliane; quella dei Branciforti e dei Lanza. L'antico Feudo completamente restaurato oggi è propietà della Famiglia Zonin, impegnata ad esaltare questa terra unica, ricca di sole e di profumi, producendo vini di classe mondiale che esprimano tutta l'anima e la forza della Sicilia. Rinomati e invidiati in tutto il mondo sono sono i due vini prodotti in questa tenuta:
1) Il Simposio, vera espressione della più profonda anima Siciliana.
2) L'Insolia di classificazione Sicilia DOC. Sapore Ricco, armonico con delicati sentori di mandorla dolce.

Stage 2: Feud Principi di Butera
The Feud Principi di Butera is an estate that belonged to two of the noble and powerful Sicilian families, that of Branciforte and Lanza. The old feud is now fully restored property of the Zonin family, committed to enhancing this unique land, plenty of sun and perfumes, producing world-class wines that express the whole soul and strength of Sicily. Renowned and envied around the world are the two wines produced on the estate: 1) Il Simposio, a true expression of the deepest soul of Sicily. 2) Insolia classified as a Sicily DOC. Rich flavor, balanced with delicate hints of sweet almond.

Una storia terribile ai limiti dell'inverosimile. Nel 1960 la Procura di Caltanissetta emette l'ordine di cattura per quattro frati del convento francescano di Mazzarino: estorsioni, violenze, omicidi, simulazione di reato per dei frati che avevano fatto voto di povertà, castità e obbedienza. Marzo 1962, Messina, Corte d'Assise: Vittorio Venanzio, Agrippino e Carmelo, questi i monaci di Mazzarino che dopo due anni di carcere si presentano davanti ai giudici accusati di associazione per delinquere, concorso in omicidio ed estorsione continuata. I quattro singolari uomini di fede vennero processati e condannati in un dibattimento che appassionò l'Italia dei tempi. Quale mistero si nasconde nelle celle di questi insoliti monaci?

Stage 3: The case of the 4 friars of Mazzarino
A terrible story at the limits of credibility. In 1960, the Prosecutor of Caltanissetta emits an arrest warrant for four friars of the Franciscan convent of Mazzarino: extortion, violence, murder, crime simulation for the friars who had taken a vow of poverty, chastity and obedience. March 1962 Messina Court of Assizes: Vittorio Venancio, Agrippino and Carmelo, these monks of Mazarin, "that after two years in prison come before the courts accused of conspiracy, conspiracy to commit murder and extortion continued. The four singular men of faith were tried and convicted in a trial that impassioned Italy of those time. What mystery is hidden in the cells of these unusual monks? How many truths are kept in the depths of the ancient convent? Let's find out together.

L'abbazia di Santo Spirito è una chiesa, di origine normanna. E' certo che quella di Santo Spirito fu la prima parrocchia della città, consacrata nel 1153 come riportato dalla data incisa sulla lapide commemorativa, posta sul pilastro sinistro dell'abside maggiore. L'Abbazia contiene delle opere notevoli, come il Crocifisso dello Staglio, molto antico, il Fonte battesimale, risalente probabilmente all'epoca bizantina, e un'urna cineraria di epoca romana di un liberto romano, Diadumeno. L'altare maggiore è realizzato con caratteristici blocchi di pietra arenaria di Sabucina (sito archeologico a pochi Km dalla chiesa) che credo si assemblino meravigliosamente con la semplicità e la particolarità della piccola Abbazia).

Stage 4: Abbey of the Holy Spirit - Caltanissetta
The Abbey of the Holy Spirit is a church of Norman origin. It 'clear that the Holy Spirit was one of the first parish in the city, which was consecrated in 1153 as reported by the date engraved on the memorial plaque, placed on the left pillar of the main apse. The Abbey contains remarkable works such as the Crocifisso of Staglio and very ancient baptismal font, probably dating to the Byzantine period, and Roman cinerary urn. The main altar is made of sandstone blocks characteristic of Sabucina (archaeological site a few kilometers from the church) that assemble beautifully with the simplicity and uniqueness of the small abbey.
